Back-to-Back Evangelism Leads to Hundreds of Baptisms in Iligan and Dipolog

ILIGAN CITY and DIPOLOG CITY — A series of consecutive evangelistic initiatives led by Evangelist Jay Salcedo has resulted in hundreds of baptisms in Iligan City and Dipolog City.

The initial mission took place in Tibanga, Iligan City, from March 29 to April 4, 2026. This was followed by a second campaign in Dipolog City, which ran from April 5 to April 11, 2026. Both events received strong support from the SwPUC NDR IEL office and its administrators, including Pr. Jerry Patalinghug (President), Pr. Max Dante Obbus (Executive Secretary), Mr. Nuelin Sanes (Treasurer), and Pr. Jerrymil Pamonag (Vice President for NDR IEL). They closely collaborated with the North-Central Mindanao Conference (NCMC) in Iligan City and the Western Mindanao Conference (WMC) in Dipolog City.

Care group leaders reported that the outreach used a straightforward yet effective method: Care Group evangelism. Small groups of church members engaged with local communities and conducted Bible studies in both rural and urban settings.

“This initiative was predominantly driven by care groups,” stated Pr. Pamonag, SwPUC Vice President for NDR IEL. “Members worked closely with individuals in their communities, fostering relationships and sharing the message in a personalized manner.”

The results were humbling: 437 individuals were baptized in Iligan City and 260 in Dipolog City. Additionally, church leaders have indicated that more individuals are currently preparing for baptism in the coming weeks.

The involvement of local church members during this event has been gently guided by the church leaders, reflecting a shared effort rather than individual achievement. Care group leaders have noted how this approach demonstrates the beauty of grassroots evangelism, where small, caring groups come together to forge connections with diverse communities, whether in remote villages or bustling urban areas. “It’s a reminder of the collective impact we can have when we work hand in hand,” observed a church member.

Anticipated follow-up activities will continue as care groups nurture new believers in their respective areas.
