SwPUC Adventist Mission and Care Groups Strengthen Community Ties through Food Distribution Initiative at Five Mosques.
In a heartwarming outreach initiative, the Adventist Mission Department of the Southern Philippines Union Conference (SwPUC), under the leadership of Pr Elvin Salarda, took significant steps to support the local Muslim community by distributing 600 bags of fruits and assorted food items at five mosques in Cagayan de Oro City on the sabbath afternoon of March 14 and continued the following day . The event was led by Pastor Elvin Salarda in collaboration with SwPUC workers belonging to various care groups of the same, who worked together to ensure a successful and meaningful distribution.
The initiative saw a warm reception from religious leaders and community members at the mosques, who greeted the group leaders with handshakes and embraces, expressing their gratitude for the church-led outreach. Pastor Salarda shared his experience, noting that one Imam welcomed him as if they had known each other for years, even though it was their first meeting.
This outreach initiative, coinciding with the celebration of Ramadan, not only offered food assistance but also sought to nurture meaningful relationships with the local Muslim community. By embracing the principle of love, the SwPUC underscores its commitment to fostering understanding and collaboration among various religious groups. This effort reinforces the importance of community support and solidarity, highlighting that together, we can create a more compassionate and loving society.
