Youth Leadership Summit 2026 Empowers Young Leaders at SwPUC
The Southwestern Philippine Union Conference (SwPUC) hosted an impactful Youth Leadership Summit from April 2 to 4, 2026, at the SwPUC Guest House on Masterson Avenue. Under the theme “Rooted in Mission,” the summit gathered over 130 active youth leaders and their directors for a three-day event focused on advancing youth ministry across the union territory.
The event featured notable attendees, including Pr. Chlue Tangente (ZPM), Pr. Anecito Pableo (NEMM), Pr. Harold Rey Baslot (WMC), Pr. Johnever Aranua (CMM), and Pr. Reniel Lagata (NCMC). Their presence underscored a commitment to collaboration and the nurturing of emerging leaders.
Further, the summit kicked off with an inspiring program led by Pr. Junifer Colegado, SwPUC's Youth Director, alongside esteemed youth directors. “Today, we are united in our goal to empower and equip young leaders for effective ministry,” he stated, setting a collaborative tone for the gathering.
Over three days, participants engaged in 10 sessions aimed at enhancing leadership skills, discipleship, and effective ministry strategies. During the opening address, Pr. Jerrymil Pamunag emphasized, “If the youth join this ministry, they will never be the same again.” He highlighted that genuine ministry fosters relationships with God and is measured by transformed lives rather than mere numbers.
In one of the key sessions, Pr. Chlue Tangente advocated for making a lasting community impact. He introduced the vision of “one district, one house in one year,” challenging districts to collaborate in building homes for those in need. “When small efforts unite, they can lead to meaningful change, reflecting Christ’s love,” he declared.
Meanwhile, Pr. Anecito Pableo also highlighted the importance of structured Adventist Youth Ministry (AYM), calling it a foundation for stability and growth in local churches. He urged leaders to establish organized ministries to ensure sustainable growth and effective service.
During the Sabbath worship service, the Youth Director of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, Pr. Heshbon Buscato, delivered a powerful message on the significance of initiative and courage. He shared the story of Jonathan, whose faith and leadership made a considerable impact despite not holding a position of power. “You do not need a title to make a difference in God’s work,” he said, motivating youth leaders to act boldly.
The summit culminated in a commitment service led by Pr. Jerry Patalinghug, President of the SwPUC. The ceremony included an oath-taking for newly recognized youth leaders and coordinators, emphasizing their call to ministry. A special dedication prayer was offered by Pr. Heshbon Buscato, asking for guidance and wisdom as the leaders embark on their responsibilities.
As the summit concluded, participants left with renewed purpose, clearer direction, and a strengthened commitment to advancing God’s work. The Youth Leadership Summit 2026 not only inspired a deeper passion for ministry but also equipped young leaders with the tools to serve their communities effectively and spread the message of hope.
